1. You choose what to shield
Apple's Screen Time picker lets you choose the apps and categories that get in the way. prayd receives privacy-preserving selections rather than a readable list of your apps.
2. A prayer enters its time
There is a five-minute grace period after the calculated prayer time. After that, an enabled prayer becomes outstanding and the selected apps are shielded—even if prayd itself is closed.
3. The shield names what is due
Opening a selected app shows which prayer is outstanding. If more than one is due, prayd starts with the earliest.
4. Prayer releases the apps
Open prayd, pray, then point the camera at your registered prayer mat. A successful match clears the debt and removes the shields. If you prayed without the mat, an honour-system fallback appears after 12 seconds.
Not a permanent lock
Temporary breaks lift the shield without pretending the prayer was completed. Pauses cover menstruation, travel and illness. Any unresolved prayer leaves enforcement at the next Fajr, so one missed prayer cannot lock a phone indefinitely.
