Religious scope

A tool for accountability, not religious authority.

prayd helps a person follow through on an intention to pray. It does not issue rulings, replace a local scholar or claim one universal position on every fiqh question.

No scholar endorsement is claimed. A named endorsement will appear here only after a qualified person has reviewed the relevant behaviour and copy, and has consented to being named.

What is configurable

Users choose which prayers enforce blocking, which apps are shielded, the prayer-time calculation method, the Asr madhab setting, the high-latitude rule and per-prayer adjustments. These are presented as settings, not universal rulings.

Neutral pauses

Menstruation, travel and illness pauses stop enforcement. A covered prayer does not damage a streak or completion rate and is not described as missed. This is product treatment of the record, not a new religious category.

Safety and accessibility

A wrongly locked phone can cause real harm. Ambiguous schedules and invalid state fail open. Temporary breaks are available. Mat verification offers an honour-system fallback after a short wait. Enforcement always ends at the next Fajr even if nothing was logged.

Questions still open to review

prayd does not claim a settled scholarly answer for the high-latitude fallback, the precise framing of prayer windows and qada, or whether app blocking is appropriate for every person. Those questions are explicitly awaiting qualified review.
