What prayd does

prayd calculates prayer times and, using Apple's Screen Time features, restricts access to apps you choose while a prayer you have not yet prayed is outstanding. The restriction lifts when you mark the prayer as prayed.

What prayd is not

  • Not a religious authority. Prayer times are calculated using published astronomical methods you select. They may differ from your local masjid. Where they do, follow your masjid.

  • Not a substitute for your own judgement. The app records what you tell it. It cannot know whether you prayed, and marking a prayer complete is between you and Allah.

  • Not a security product. App restrictions can be removed by uninstalling prayd or by changing Screen Time settings. It is designed to make not praying deliberate, not to make it impossible.

  • Not a medical or safety device. Do not rely on the alarm where oversleeping would be dangerous.

Subscription

  • prayd is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the App Store.

  • The price, duration and any free trial are shown before you buy and are confirmed by Apple at purchase. Apple's figure is the authoritative one.

  • Payment is taken by Apple. Renewal happens automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.

  • Manage or cancel at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. We cannot cancel it for you — only Apple can.

  • Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard terms.

  • If a free trial is offered and you cancel during it, you are not charged.

Your history

prayd stores everything on your device and nothing on a server. Deleting the app deletes your history permanently, and it cannot be restored or transferred to another phone.

Acceptable use

Use prayd for yourself. Don't attempt to use it to restrict someone else's device without their knowledge and consent.

Availability

prayd is provided as it is. We aim for it to work reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and features that depend on Apple's Screen Time, alarm or camera frameworks depend on iOS behaving as documented.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for missed prayers, missed alarms, loss of access to apps, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using prayd. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Changes

These terms may change. Material changes will be notified in the app before they take effect, and continuing to use prayd after that means accepting them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
